This month has seen our first ever Devon Interiors snow day!..... and the our second!!!!! On the 1st March we were forced to close the office for the day as Devon was hit with a red warning and a good couple of foot of snow, there was no let up and yesterday (19th March) we were snowed in again and HAD to make snow angels!!
We were all very excited as snow is not something which normally graces our county; naturally we are used to tropical sunshine (cough cough!) 365 days of the year! 😊 With the snow day drama behind us, we have some exciting new clients, including an award winning fish and chip shop in Exmouth, Harbour Rise Care home in Paignton and Devon County Council’s Young Persons Hub. As far as we are concerned, there is only one place to buy your chips in Exmouth; this project is especially exciting for the big chip eaters in the team Sophie and Kate (who did wonder if they could be paid in chips!)! Although we can’t tell you just yet who this client is, we will be excited to reveal this incredible design in the next month! Care home design runs through the veins of Devon Interiors, and is something we are very passionate about. When we were approached by Harbour Rise, we were very excited to have the opportunity to create a space which would not only improve the environment for the residents but really enhance this architectural gem of a building. This month has seen us complete one of our luxury residential projects, working with the lovely Neil and Hope on their impressive South Devon home has been a joy and the transformation is spectacular! By the end of this month we will also be completing Eaves Court Independent living scheme, the site is looking great and we can’t wait to put the finishes touches to it! Keep your eyes on our blog as we will be updating you with pictures of these schemes very soon!

Ultravoilet! What a great colour......So vibrant and can be contrasted with some amazing splashes of green and golds as seen on the catwalks already, but it is also a very solid trustworthy and calming colour if used in the correct way.
Use this colour in sumptuous fabrics for a vibrant 'pop' with gold accents, for a sophisticated but fun vibe. In the spirit of new year’s resolutions, yes, we know we are a month late, but never the less, we have decided to commit to keeping all you lovely people up to date with exciting projects we are working on, new products and the latest interior trends.
January has flown by and the team at Devon Interiors have been busier than ever. In 2017 we completed many great projects. One of the most memorable projects was Lovedays Restaurant in Poldark Country, Charlestown, Cornwall! We would recommend a visit to shipwreckcharlestown.com/lovedays. While you are enjoying your fine food, coffee and yummy cakes or divine cocktails, take a look around and notice some of the design details which make this scheme truly unique. The details include the sea monster carpet, climbing monkey wallpaper and the bespoke hanging fish art piece! We also started working with the Guinness Partnership on a new build, independent living scheme in Totnes, Devon. Quayside boasts fantastic facilities, a cafe, restaurant, salon and the location is truly idyllic. Devon Interiors proposed a bold and beautiful, nature inspired interior which the client loved from the first presentation. Most of the furniture and finishes are bespoke, we worked with Lyndon design to create adaptations of some of their existing furniture products to ensure the seating would encourage resident’s independence. The commitment of the Guinness Partnership and our very own Leanne, drove this to be the triumph that it has become. We don't doubt that this will be an award-winning scheme in 2018! This year is forecasted to be equally as exciting for Devon Interiors! We are currently working on a show home for MJ Saltmarsh developments in Bideford, Haines Watts Launceston's new office and we are putting the final preparations in place to complete our latest Anchor Trust scheme, Eaves Court in Princes Risborough. To have a sneak peak of what Eaves Court is going to look like, check out the interior fly through which we produced for Anchor last year!! http://www.anchor.org.uk/our-properties/eaves-court-princes-risborough#section_gallery Keep an eye on our website, we are currently working on an update and as promised we will keep you up to date on the blog page! Copper.... and Rose Gold are huge in the design world at the moment, being used on furniture, floors and even hair! Whether on soft or hard materials, copper and rose gold never fail to create a beautiful interior.
Pink!!.....Todays blog is not just about pink interiors, is also to raise awareness of ‘Breast Cancer Care’ who are a wonderful charity providing support and information to those living with breast cancer. Blush pink is huge right now and looks amazing with warm greys and indigo blues, it is a beautifully calming colour that will enhance any room in your home.
The link below will take you to the Big Pink webpage where you can pay in and get your own free pink kit! https://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/the-big-pink Marble....Ever thought of using it in your homes, hotels and restaurants? Well maybe you should as the use of this material just keeps growing and creates such a beautiful look for almost any interior, there are some fabulous products and finishes out there to allow you to create this look.
Velvet.... on furniture, curtains and wallpaper looks so luxurious, but velvet jewellery and clothing in the fashion industry is starting to get extremely popular and we have fallen in love with it.
Velvet is one of the hottest trends to dip your toe into this Autumn and Winter. With many styles available on the high street from dresses to skirts, shorts, shirts, jumpers, coats, shoes, bags and accessories… OK, so basically everything! Concrete........Everyday textures are becoming more and popular when creating stunning interiors. Used in the right way, concrete can add a simple level of industrial chic to your home for a super stylish look.
Pantone have released their choice of colour of the year 2017 ‘Greenery’, a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive! Last year’s announcement surprised us all with ‘Rose Quartz and Serenity’, it’s as though Pantone wanted to start 2017 with a ‘fresh and zesty’ feel.
Green can be paired with neutrals, bright, deeper shades, pastels, metallic and even the 2016 colour of the year ‘Rose Quartz and Serenity’, it’s such a great colour! We come across green every day that it’s not such a surprise it’s the colour of the year for 2017. Green is described as the ‘colour of life’ which is completely correct! Green can be used for anything, from fashion, furniture, home décor, paint and much more… So you’ve heard about the exciting projects we’ve been up to, but I bet you didn’t know we had new members to the team. There are now 8 of us, and we all have our own talents and roles within Devon Interiors. Oh, and not to mention we also have a mascot, ‘D'reckly’ who is in fact a dog but he’s also got great talent…sleeping!! From Left to Right: Tonia, Kate, D'reckly, Ben, Brett, Leanne, Shannon-Leigh, Amy, Sophie
See more info on each of us in the Team DI section!! Did you miss us?! It’s been far too long now since our last blog, we know! We’ve been super super busy and have had to put our amazing clients first, of course… Being so busy has been great and has meant we have been able to expand on our team. We have a dedicated ‘mini media mogul’ who is writing all of our blogs, updating the website more often and keeping everyone up – to – date with what we are up to on social media.. Phew! We will introduce you to our amazing team in our next blog, but in the meantime this is just some of what we have been up to:
When we were approached by Kenn and Kennford Parish Council to help give their reception / break out area a 'new lease of life' we were more than happy to assist! The brief was to create an inviting space that the local community are encouraged to use. The Kenn Centre, Kennford, plays host to many events, functions as well as having meeting room and conference facilities, so it was ever more important that the entrance was fun and welcoming! With an extra thanks to KBS Signs and Ben Stretton, the space was transformed to the highest finish!
Working alongside EaseBuild, we have spent this Summer transforming the first phase of the circulation space to Cullompton Community College. The brief was to convert the space into an environment that reflects the college's inspirational approach to education; to make fun, dynamic, vibrant space. With the use of fresh, bold colours on the walls and in the rooflights and simplistic wall graphics we believe we have delivered just that! The students are shortly returning for their new school year - We hope they like it as much as us!!! :)
Yesterday saw the official opening of Dartmouth Golf and Country Club's, The Dartmouth Spa by chairman Greg Dyke! We couldn't be more pleased with the transformation of this project! The tired, dated swimming pool and gym has been given a new lease of life in the form and luxurious spa facility; including a new indoor pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and fully equipped gym. The spa also includes three treatment rooms, a dual treatment room for couples, manicure and pedicure areas and a relaxation room where an extensive range of relaxing treatments are available, including the rare opportunity to enjoy a Rasul mud experience!!! Greg and the General Manager Jamie are impressed with the results and are very much looking forward to the future of the Spa!
How exciting!!! We were approached by the fabulous MK Events girls and asked if we would like to sponsor The Big Cake Show 2014 in Exeter this year by providing them with a 'Green Room' fit for their celebrity chefs, of course we said yes, especially as Mary Berry was one of them!
We absolutely love a challenge, so when we saw an empty breize block lined white box of a room our creative juices began to flow and we knew we could pull something fantastic out of the bag in record time! With the help and support of FW Homestores and Panaz we were able to create a warm, inviting interior with the use of quality, comfortable furniture and luxurious fabrics to act as a back drop! We were so pleased with the results, as was Mary who told us she loved the space - Thank you Mary and the MK Events Team! Wow..... I don't think any of us imagined quite what a rollercoaster of a year 2013 would be!! Since opening Devon Interiors in May, we have: Completed - Two fab Residential projects, an Office project on the Duchy Estate in Cornwall and a super fun Retail outlet for great local charity 'Jelly' in Exeter. Currently on Site - Two new luxury care homes (one in Surrey and one in Southampton, both with dementia care specialism), a care home refurbishment in Guisley (yes, that's Yorkshire!) all for Anchor Trust, an amazing complete Spa and Treatment suite refurbishment for Dartmouth Golf and Country Club and a beautiful refurbishment of the clubhouse Bar, Grill and Lounge at Woodbury Park Golf club! So what have we got in store so far for 2014?!...... Well, we will be hitting the ground running at speed on Monday!! We will be commencing the design stages of - Two new luxury care homes, two new extra care projects, an office refurbishment and potentially some luxury treehouses!!
Exciting times!.... Cant wait to get stuck in, we will keep you updated! Our website is currently being updated too as we realise we have neglected to keep up with reporting back at the pace of our projects! So come back soon to see what we have been up to......♥ Wow!! We cannot believe its August already...... we certainly hit the ground running and haven't stopped for a moment!! Its been the best few months EVER, so much fun and we have met some amazing people that we are proud to now call friends. We moved into our lovely new office, commenced 'Flat-pack Monday' and built ourselves some lovely furniture. After a few weeks of 'heads down' and running at one hundred miles an hour we had 'Upholstery Friday' and customised our sofas...... a lot more US!! the office fit-out continues, watch this space for an update! Now that we have finally taken a breathe, we have been able to look back at what
we have achieved in such a short time. We have planned our blogs and will not be leaving it this long again!! ♥ Ok, so Devon Interiors Limited has officially been 'born'! After spending the last 11 or so years in one of Europe's largest design consultancies, it feels like a huge breathe of fresh air to be able to solely concentrate on delivering a top quality service to our clients with 100% commitment and no 'red tape'.
As a team we are so lucky that we can honestly say 'we love our jobs' and none of us take that for granted, we've all been in situations where we wake up in the morning and dread the day in front of us..... but now we wake up excited and ready to go!! Our recent residential project has been a wonderful experience.... fantastic clients, superb design and construction team and great suppliers. We are slowly but surely putting together a holistic design for the property of which the bathrooms were a priority - they are currently on site and we will update you with completed photos as soon as possible.... watch this space! ♥ |
